Illumina, Inc. is an American company that was incorporated in April 1998. It develops, manufactures, and markets integrated systems for the analysis of genetic variation and biological function. In 2014, Illumina was named the world’s smartest company by MIT Technology Review.

We partnered with Illumina to help research keywords for Google AdWords and craft compelling landing pages. By combining copywriting with ad and landing-page creation, we were able to help Illumina with their content marketing campaigns.

The Challenge

Illumina recently launched a new content marketing campaign around a fantastic resource comparing qPCR, Sanger Sequencing and Targeted Resequencing. However, without compelling top-of-the-funnel landing pages and copy that spoke the same language as researchers, it would be hard to persuade interested leads to opt in.

The Strategy

We were immediately able to do a deep dive into keyword research to figure out exactly what Illumina’s target audience was searching for. Then we built compelling text ads, display advertisements and landing pages to get the clicks and convert the leads.

The Results

In the end, Illumina had numerous high performing ad groups that targeted numerous relevant keywords across application areas. The increased traffic and split testing of landing pages helped to isolate top-performing campaigns to further scale Google AdWords.
